How Home CCTV Services StartedIn March 2015 Rob listened to a radio 2 news bulletin, where Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe (Chief inspector, Scotland yard) stated that he believed “All Homeowners should look into Home CCTV and help us trap burglars”.
Rob was inspired and the rest is history………
After a year of research, planning & training “Home CCTV Services Ltd” was launched in September 2016.
Before Home CCTV Services Ltd launched there wasn’t a company specialising in CCTV for the home in this way and to our knowledge there still isn’t…….We just do CCTV and just for the home, no distractions!
Research suggested that large commercial CCTV companies companies wanted big jobs only and didn’t seem to want to deal with individual homeowners. They weren’t geared up to deal with the customer service and help needed by a homeowner as a newcomer to CCTV. One company told Rob “Houses are more hassle than they’re worth, commercial work is best!”
Some local electricians had taken an interest in some extra cash and were installing one or two systems a month. Our research highlighted major problems there too, however; While electricians generally understood how to install a system, they often used the cheapest equipment, never the same equipment twice and never really understood how the system was operated….seeing that as more of the customers problem! Most people now like to view the cameras via an app on their phone, this was also a feature that most electricians wouldn’t get involved with and certainly didn’t want to help out months/years down the line each time you change your phone or internet provider.
Further market research showed that the biggest waste of money was homeowners having to buy new systems repeatedly when technical issues occurred as their original installers washed their hands of it.
